So here we are acting as lecturers to the young enthusiasts, whence not long ago the current lecturers were students themselves. The first lecture was taken by the elderly Manuj Mukherjee and Shounak Roy. The topic was “Basics of Photography”. The lecture was crisp, to the point and by the end of it several students were confused as to whether clap in appreciation or chant “Heil Manuj”. The second lecture was taken by the ever confused Subham Dutta Chowdhury. The topic was on exposure. This involved a novel demonstration of the Adobe Lightroom-camera interface for demonstrating the reciprocity triangle. Overall it was a satisfactory exposure..err..lecture. The first practical session was held in the IISC campus. The interested students were divided into five groups with assigned group leaders and given a practical demonstration in exposure handling. The third lecture in the series was again taken by Manuj Mukherjee. This demonstrated the use of filters and flash followed by the practical session at the Nandi hills. Club members and enthusiastic participants ensured it was a grand success, irrespective of a sleep deprived night journey. The final and the most important lecture was taken care of by the club legends Sangram Biswas and Bishnu Sanghai. The topic that they covered was Composition. Enthusiasts were awe struck as the aesthetic beauty of the subject was revealed to them during the course of the lecture and were relieved to see that not all old hands of the club are out of shape. The final practical session was held at ShivajiNagar and Yeshwantpur market. The same batches went for the trip as the previous practical sessions and were exposed to the nitty-gritties of street photography.
