IISc Photography Club invites the students, staff and faculty members to participate in Intra exhibition 2018, the annual photography competition of IISc and its sister institutions ICTS, NCBS, RRI, NIAS, JNCASR and TIFR. The entry to this competition is free for all. This year, we are having two themes:
- Social Documentary (Classic Street and Candid/Environmental Portraits)- Street photography, also sometimes called candid photography, is photography conducted for art or enquiry that features unmediated chance encounters and random incidents within public places. An environmental portrait is a portrait executed in the subject's usual environment, such as in their home or workplace, and typically illuminates the subject's life and surroundings.
- Nature (Landscape, Macro and Wildlife)- It involves photographs taken outdoors and is devoted to displaying natural elements such as landscapes, wildlife, plants, and close-ups of natural scenes and textures.
JUDGES
The judge for Social Documentary is Muhammad Imam Hasan. He was born and brought up in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is a child physician by profession at Dhaka Shishu (Children) Hospital and a street photographer driven by his passion. Most of his work is based on the city of Dhaka. He started photography in 2013 with capturing his daughter’s photograph. Then eventually he discovered his deep interest in photography day by day. He joined Pathshala on March 2013 and completed Basic and Foundation course on Photography. At the early stage he liked shooting travel or lifestyle but from 2014, he started taking street photography very seriously. His work is a unique composite of complex layers, emotions and precious moments of the people. His body of work can be found here and here.
The judge for Nature is Kudrat-E-Khoda, who is a pioneer freelance nature photographer in Bangladesh. His working area is wildlife, macro and nature. He loves nature and travelling since his childhood. From the very beginning he has been interested in observing the macro activity, wild animal's activity, bird watching and also enjoying the beautiful landscape and watching the changes of biodiversity and climate changes. This inspired him to start photography for conservation of nature as it is from 1997. He photographs various insects, butterflies and spider from different parts of the country. He not only photographs them for documentation but also photographs them for their beautiful natural actions. He has contributed his articles on various national daily newspapers and magazines. ‘Jole Jongole’- a television program by ATN News based on nature has featured him and his works several times not very long ago. You can check out his body of work here.
